The Ethan Allen sofa, fireplace, brown leather chair are already in the room currently. I just thought adding a few major items might help complete the room.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdbqaDEL57VETCxZt3lCb9q-XiEZPgNiYZSrWXXOjefiwB0FxZ2qXKkw0okiBa0_tBwXw32OX7pAUN_kFPXf0Ryrt62JwXL1_IFXyBrmpDNKnuoXzCcxqiuGNEqJzRZl5SgU4wAmjUbpo/s1600/30-416-pattern.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdbqaDEL57VETCxZt3lCb9q-XiEZPgNiYZSrWXXOjefiwB0FxZ2qXKkw0okiBa0_tBwXw32OX7pAUN_kFPXf0Ryrt62JwXL1_IFXyBrmpDNKnuoXzCcxqiuGNEqJzRZl5SgU4wAmjUbpo/s320/30-416-pattern.jpg" width="259" /></a></div> I love this beige and black wallpaper from Graham & Brown <a href="http://www.grahambrown.com/us/product/30-416/Tattoo%3A+Black+%26+Beige+wallpaper">here,</a> I would place the wallpaper on thin wood panels. I would then place three panels on top, three on bottom, placed perfectly together like frames on walls on either side of the room. This makes using wallpaper in such a huge room more affordable and easier to place on walls with out all the fuss and mess of applying directly to the walls. Plus it's instant art work on the walls!<br />

I am sure you can find something similar at another store too. <br />

I would make two square pillows for the sofa and one oblong on for the brown leather chair.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHWzBANHCq-or1dmmdgQzv3722qtStFH1oJwQyozrFz6_tQiw9EX5dqgWinrG237V8w0yY4IdPriWUkgU6Rq9xllGCwfLSPfyTyBnExM1IRvkhgafoMebMVrlM2I-Ec6VeqMCotWLOkFg/s1600/peatail+target+lamp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHWzBANHCq-or1dmmdgQzv3722qtStFH1oJwQyozrFz6_tQiw9EX5dqgWinrG237V8w0yY4IdPriWUkgU6Rq9xllGCwfLSPfyTyBnExM1IRvkhgafoMebMVrlM2I-Ec6VeqMCotWLOkFg/s320/peatail+target+lamp.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I am really impressed with Target, I found this great lamp <a href="http://www.target.com/p/Peatail-Table-Lamp-Dark-Purple-Green/-/A-703340">here,</a> it really just pulls all the colors in the room together with it's beautiful shade. If possible I would get two of these babies, one to place by sofa and one by leather chair.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG_pOrsvHijEBI2ZPffzpZo0rqezCaSDNKZa7x7EVVxWo6LQIN3kofkRJkXpexzE2e5A1Nnoda3x82H10Efs8K7B48uDScQfxtDESxTdG4Kl6hhAUqa7oX1_5_DTxcxt1c-PPnbRej9dA/s1600/P13823053.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG_pOrsvHijEBI2ZPffzpZo0rqezCaSDNKZa7x7EVVxWo6LQIN3kofkRJkXpexzE2e5A1Nnoda3x82H10Efs8K7B48uDScQfxtDESxTdG4Kl6hhAUqa7oX1_5_DTxcxt1c-PPnbRej9dA/s1600/P13823053.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">A brown faux fur throw on the damask sofa would compliment the brown leather chair across the room. Found one <a href="http://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Brown-Faux-Fur-Throw/6167645/product.html">here</a> for $52.99!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I think gold accents in this room are a must, two gold side tables and a gold barcart would rock this room. These are items you can find at any home goods store in the USA. A transparent white drumshade covered chandilier in the center of the room would be the cherry on top.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

They were between 30 to 40CHF. Really lovely glass candle holders, although I prefer them without the candles. These would look amazing inside a fireplace or on a mantel.<br />
<br />
<span style="color: yellow;">UPDATE: I think the store name is CACHET in St. Francois - Lausanne, CHE</span><br />

Thank goodness!<br />
<br />
The bad news, it's a much smaller FURNISHED flat and makes me feel like I have died and gone to Ikea Hell! <br />
<br />
I like Ikea, but to live in a flat where every single item is from Ikea down to the towels....it's just too much for me. It's only for 6 months, it's only for 6 months, I can do this!<br />
<br />
Any who, we don't really have room to store all my hords of furniture and must sells loads of items. Please visit here if you need a sofa, table, baby furniture, etc:<br />

We have to be out in 4 weeks and have had zero luck finding a new place to live for the moment. Totally not stressed. No really I am freaking out! Trying to find another awesome huge flat in Lausanne is like impossible.<br />
<br />
So I went shopping, with the hubby's okay of course. I saw this yellow rug at Ikea for my office! Not sure if I will have an office at the next place we will call home, but rugs you can take with you anywhere.<br />

<br />
Affordable and Swissyland normally do not go together, but I found a large rug at Ikea (250 x 350cm) for only 399CHF! Really good deal to me.<br />
<br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">Is it the softest and most beautiful rug ever? No, it's really rough actually. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Is it large enough to cover all 9feet by 3 feet under my dinning table and then some? Yes. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Will it keep the chairs from scratching the floor? Yes.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Have I been trying to buy this rug since November 2010? YES!!!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Ikea is teasing me. Everytime they show it's in stock, I show up and they just sold the last 250 x 350 size rug.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Seriously does every household in VAUD have this rug in their home? How can this rug be sold out every single month?</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

Next I placed this bag of shoe treasures by our front door for my hubby to place in our cave for safe keeping. Oh I had some fabulous comfortable Born and BCBG wedge sandles in this bag that I had just brought back from the US from our holiday last summer. I had not even had a chance to wear most of them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAgr__pwCpGySbhslt1Rr-o1A93Sm9ZIhMjuPUaJA1MiFdWMxz1Z58TxsOLF7lEckvUO05SimjhK55RAoBdOxs1NKAel4nD6h1RPiaKPxM24VLYb-kRhgQQC2_Znply59s-jev9y0SNaY/s1600/1011137016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAgr__pwCpGySbhslt1Rr-o1A93Sm9ZIhMjuPUaJA1MiFdWMxz1Z58TxsOLF7lEckvUO05SimjhK55RAoBdOxs1NKAel4nD6h1RPiaKPxM24VLYb-kRhgQQC2_Znply59s-jev9y0SNaY/s400/1011137016.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">image via <a href="http://www.greenlightoffice.com/office/3/yellow-trash-bag">here</a></div><br />
This same day we were also using these same black garbage bags to put unwanted clothing and shoes in to be donated. Can you see where this is going?<br />
<br />
Low and behold I have been searching for this bag of lovely shoes for over a month now since the weather has been so warm this spring in Lausanne. I finally broke down and paid our babyitter to come by during the afternoon and watch the kids for <strong><u>FOUR </u></strong>hours while I tore our cave apart trying to find my bag of beautiful summer wedges.<br />
<br />
<br />

The cave is now cleaned out, but still no bag of shoes to be found, BUT I did find an old bag of clothes that were suppose to be donated last fall. <br />
<br />
Now hubby is away on business and guess what he is bringing me back this weekend!<br />

It's just up the road from Flon.<br />
<br />
Their address and phone number is:<br />
<br />
Rue St-Martin 34, 1005 Lausanne<br />
Tel. 021/323 30 44 <br />
<br />
I am going there tomorrow to check it out. Here are some pictures from their online <a href="http://www.grange.fr/grange/easysite/grange/fr/choisir-un-meuble/collections">site.</a> It seems they sell mostly traditional, classic and antique looking pieces. <br />
<br />

This is where I also got my side table last year that I posted about <a href="http://rougedebourg.blogspot.com/2010/05/little-before-after.html">here.</a><br />
<br />
I am currently helping a friend decorate her flat and I went to my favorite place Anna's in Lausanne to check out the furniture in stock. It's located at:<br />
<br />
<br />
Rue du Grand-Pont 8<br />
<br />
CH-1003 Lausanne<br />
<br />
Tél. +41 21 647 76 69<br />
<br />
The manager there speaks English and was so kind to let me take a few photos of some pieces that I really like in his store.<br />

I even tried to scratch the leather to see how kid friendly it was, let me tell you, it's very kid friendly! Could not make a mark on it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Only 3,990.00 CHF, which if you live in Switzerland, know this is a steal for a quality leather Italian sofa purchase here in this area. Normally quality sofa's sell for 6,000CHF or more around these parts.<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1kYCY8iE248Yl8Vr5Ig1vl9DeuwvU7fH4-OV2adEOQ0wF9lcLxgagYaXinfo_FShquypiXs5p13vhDQBl71FRPgo2VUBADCU4k6dsZmyR1QKvlllPAc2xH4DDApvnDNMcpp0AxM15p0Y/s1600/wedding+attire.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1kYCY8iE248Yl8Vr5Ig1vl9DeuwvU7fH4-OV2adEOQ0wF9lcLxgagYaXinfo_FShquypiXs5p13vhDQBl71FRPgo2VUBADCU4k6dsZmyR1QKvlllPAc2xH4DDApvnDNMcpp0AxM15p0Y/s400/wedding+attire.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">all images via <a href="http://www.monsoon.co.uk/">http://www.monsoon.co.uk/</a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">I am trying to help a friend pick out shoes and a bag to wear to a summer wedding. </div><ul style="text-align: left;"><li><div style="text-align: left;">The first look is safe and classic to me, can't go wrong with this combo. </div></li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">The second look with the coral shoes and bag are so chic and hip, love this look. It screams 'style'! </div></li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">The third look with the black bag seems more sophisticated and sexy, great for an evening wedding. </div></li>
<li><div style="text-align: left;">The fourth look is more summery and light feeling with the light shoe and bag. Perfect for a summer day wedding.</div></li>
</ul>Which one would you choose?<br />
<br />
<span style="color: red;"><strong><u>UPDATE:</u></strong> I added one more color combo of lilac to the choices, as my friend loved the idea of the splash of color with the dress, but felt the coral was a bit too bright. The coral is a very warm color to wear with the grey dress and really stands out. So I tried the dress with a pop of color in the cool family and think it's just the right amount of color, but not too bright. She just ordered the lilac shoes and bag from Monsoon. Can't wait till she has the entire outfit all put together. Here is a peak below.</span><br />

I took a square piece of fabric and placed over the stool and started to tac into place.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604429731590246498"><img border="0" height="281" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcbvJbgTEGI/AAAAAAAAAj0/XMVtBhPozQ8/s288/2.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="375" /></a></center><br />
I then folded down the corners and tacked those into place as well. Easy stuff.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604429746423801186"><img border="0" height="500" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcbvKSw5JWI/AAAAAAAAAj4/CAwJsf2NLsA/s288/4.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="375" /></a></center><br />
I cut the excess fabric and then used a product to seal the cut part so the fabric would not fray. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604429757287874066"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcbvK7PFvhI/AAAAAAAAAj8/gjXPkrbV5ec/s288/3.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="300" /></a></center><br />
Next I used my curved upholstery needle on the folded part of the fabric to make it flush against the seat part.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604429766116193794"><img border="0" height="500" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcbvLcH7NgI/AAAAAAAAAkA/dYjeBFoJxgA/s288/5.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="375" /></a></center><br />
Here is my almost finished vintage stool (another Anibis.ch find from last year) just need to pick up some trim to place around bottom to hide the tacks.<br />

Click <a href="http://rougedebourg.blogspot.com/2010/05/usa-has-craigslistcom-and-switzerland.html">here</a> for a peek of what it looked liked before (was not loving the wood legs, I know my hubby thinks I am crazy).<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604309722412330258"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcaB_-enrRI/AAAAAAAAAjc/JoItjUd8zW8/s288/0.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center><br />
I prepped the legs of this day bed or should I call it a huge a** ottoman? It's as big as my sofa!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604309729546801106"><img border="0" height="533" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcaCAZDnD9I/AAAAAAAAAjg/XR0Ew8tmZ2U/s288/2.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center><br />
Then I used paint primer. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604309743356598610"><img border="0" height="533" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcaCBMgH2VI/AAAAAAAAAjk/IvIHg5CxnuY/s288/3.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center><br />
First coat of black paint going on.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5604309753867468898"><img border="0" height="533" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcaCBzqHAGI/AAAAAAAAAjo/F1fyIbyKGZ4/s288/4.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center><br />
And the finished product! Love the black finish with the brass!<br />
<br />
Stay tuned as I will be putting a new Designer Guild fabric on it tomorrow!<br />

I just finished ripping all the nail heads, staples and ugly fabric off of it. This was an Anibis.ch find from last year.<br />
<br />
I just got hooked up with these two Designer Guild fabrics...<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5603971525362242258"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcVOaUSe0tI/AAAAAAAAAiw/L82OdZhT_zc/s288/1.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center><br />
And this one!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<center><a href="https://picasaweb.google.com/103113464858223968545/MyBlogPhotos#5603971544312541682"><img border="0" height="533" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_uIDTHNEyGRs/TcVOba4lcfI/AAAAAAAAAi0/hOTybftZ30U/s288/2.jpg" style="margin: 5px;" width="400" /></a></center><br />
Which one to choose, I love them both!<br />

She wants youthful elegance. These are the beautiful windows in her living room and the two pieces of furniture she just purchased from Ethan Allen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh99GAwK0LytsahAUawAW-CONf2B2_fE8Df0WP_SIiU3-LAIK2OZEgiXNJn4qHwQM-PPBr_lxZWvnURwvB8pBVOyvc42GtmzR5UeHOzRhyphenhyphentXW9fZ_Dh7S3vYeTg9VccK66Xm67lxrlQT-g/s1600/sarah+living+room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh99GAwK0LytsahAUawAW-CONf2B2_fE8Df0WP_SIiU3-LAIK2OZEgiXNJn4qHwQM-PPBr_lxZWvnURwvB8pBVOyvc42GtmzR5UeHOzRhyphenhyphentXW9fZ_Dh7S3vYeTg9VccK66Xm67lxrlQT-g/s400/sarah+living+room.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLc8wpFPV0JXTS38vTfcK10y3kUL2weJ5pi7ISTNGuIVsANdHKsPmAokEZ7nPp6CRxHsdRBvh3miGuTNUBg-h9B3QdSVu_zDrB8gFCR9VBSIK0V8uCKQyc_LWRMPOHMh0WF31Bf2DnpXg/s1600/sarah+chair.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLc8wpFPV0JXTS38vTfcK10y3kUL2weJ5pi7ISTNGuIVsANdHKsPmAokEZ7nPp6CRxHsdRBvh3miGuTNUBg-h9B3QdSVu_zDrB8gFCR9VBSIK0V8uCKQyc_LWRMPOHMh0WF31Bf2DnpXg/s400/sarah+chair.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">She really loves bold colors, but is not sure what she wants for this room. I decided to do a couple of different mood boards to give some different styles we can bring to this room. Here is the first mood board I put together using <a href="http://olioboard.com/">Olioboard.</a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTeNohuwGf0BMk_2XXnNxSQz3tt4aH2pnHFNY4h8ok27AMeVSekLnvwYh8fH83Ehcm0n3pduI_Z8Wn71ZGiDX9J-FdRpDN7yjEHZGxL5rpMfu38kZObFefbPIwB5q07nSFs3e-u7MPZiQ/s1600/OB-sarah+formal+living+IDEA+1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="414" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTeNohuwGf0BMk_2XXnNxSQz3tt4aH2pnHFNY4h8ok27AMeVSekLnvwYh8fH83Ehcm0n3pduI_Z8Wn71ZGiDX9J-FdRpDN7yjEHZGxL5rpMfu38kZObFefbPIwB5q07nSFs3e-u7MPZiQ/s640/OB-sarah+formal+living+IDEA+1.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>I think a dark modern rug would bring these two different styles of furniture together, act as a neutral and keep it young looking. You want this formal living room to be comfortable enough to walk into and sit, so you will use it, but don't want it too casual.<br />
<br />
I would then bring in some brass pieces such as tables, lucite and brass bar cart and then add brass book ends to place on the mantel. Four square ornate mirrors above the fire place to relect the beautiful view of these windows. <br />
<br />
To soften up the very masculin leather arm chair I would add a lambs skin throw to give it a soft texture and add a black/cream ikat pillow in silk to keep it chic.<br />
<br />
The Ethan Allen sofa is lovely damask pattern in light green velvet. On the sofa I would place a faux furry animal throw in brown to match the leather chair and to bring a dark color to that side of the room for balance. Also would add some pillows in black, cream, brown velvet in modern prints to accent rug and leather arm chair.<br />
<br />
I would then add two long panels of grey/green silk (matching color of sofa) with black velvet color block on bottom. These curtains would frame the windows to be mounted in place, not functional. To finish the room, hang a chandiler with a drum shade in white or black to keep it modern. Last of course add some mirrored lamps to the room to glam it up.<br />
<br />
Sorry for random thoughts, fragments and spelling errors have kids waiting for me! Two to three more ideas to come soon for this room! Think eggplant color, SIL's favorite color!!!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It was a decent first try, easy to do and not too bad looking. I didn't feel like I really could make the Ikea table look any worse, so had no problems if I caused it damage.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I think next time I will get a second hand solid wood table and use a nailhead spacer, as it is driving me crazy that the nailheads are not perfectly spaced. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
