Chevron Shutters

Walking around Lausanne this morning and fell in love with the chevron pattern shutters on this building. Makes a plain looking building more interesting.

Moodboard for My Lovely SIL's Salon

 My SIL in the USA loves purple, so this is my inspiration Moodboard that I made for her (via http://olioboard.com).  The Ethan Allen sofa, fireplace, brown leather chair are already in the room currently.  I just thought adding a few major items might help complete the room.

 I love this beige and black wallpaper from Graham & Brown here, I would place the wallpaper on thin wood panels.  I would then place three panels on top, three on bottom, placed perfectly together like frames on walls on either side of the room.  This makes using wallpaper in such a huge room more affordable and easier to place on walls with out all the fuss and mess of applying directly to the walls.  Plus it's instant art work on the walls!

I love this pillow from here, it would bring a modern print to such a traditional damask covered sofa.

I think two faux silk purple curtains fixed on either side of the beautiful windows would make a statement.  Found them at Target here for a steal of $24.95 per panel!

 I love this white elephant side table from here, it is $245.00 but getting faux silk curtains makes it affordable!  I am sure you can find something similar at another store too. 

 This rug would really compliment the beige wallpaper in the room and look amazing with the hardwood floors they currently have in the room.

 I love this ikat fabric by the yard from here, the purple would pull from the faux silk curtains and the black in the pattern would go with the black in the wallpaper.  I would make two square pillows for the sofa and one oblong on for the brown leather chair.

I am really impressed with Target, I found this great lamp here, it really just pulls all the colors in the room together with it's beautiful shade.  If possible I would get two of these babies, one to place by sofa and one by leather chair.

A brown faux fur throw on the damask sofa would compliment the brown leather chair across the room.  Found one here for $52.99!

I think gold accents in this room are a must, two gold side tables and a gold barcart would rock this room.  These are items you can find at any home goods store in the USA.  A transparent white drumshade covered chandilier in the center of the room would be the cherry on top.

This is my vision of decorating my SIL's salon with purple.

I was walking around St Francois today and walked into a little shop that begins with a C, but can not remember name.



They were between 30 to 40CHF. Really lovely glass candle holders, although I prefer them without the candles. These would look amazing inside a fireplace or on a mantel.

Freaking Out!

Why is it when you ask mover to be super delicate with something they do the opposite?

Furniture for Sale!

Only two weeks until we have to leave our beautiful flat and we just now found a new place to live.  Thank goodness!

The bad news, it's a much smaller FURNISHED flat and makes me feel like I have died and gone to Ikea Hell!   

I like Ikea, but to live in a flat where every single item is from Ikea down to the towels....it's just too much for me.  It's only for 6 months, it's only for 6 months, I can do this!

Feeling Kinda Blue....

...about moving from our flat we have been in for the past 4 years.  We have to be out in 4 weeks and have had zero luck finding a new place to live for the moment.  Totally not stressed.  No really I am freaking out! Trying to find another awesome huge flat in Lausanne is like impossible.

So I went shopping, with the hubby's okay of course.  I saw this yellow rug at Ikea for my office!  Not sure if I will have an office at the next place we will call home, but rugs you can take with you anywhere.

 My youngest son loves this rug!  Would not stop laying on it.

My cure for feeling blue, is adding a little sunshine/yellow to your life/room.
