Help! Can't decide....

...which Designer Guild fabric to use to recover this piece of furniture.

I just finished ripping all the nail heads, staples and ugly fabric off of it. This was an Anibis.ch find from last year.

I just got hooked up with these two Designer Guild fabrics...

And this one!

Which one to choose, I love them both!

Shoes

I feel like dancing... In these shoes that are half a size too small. Grey, cute and cheap! Got them from Vogel Shoes in Lausanne, only place I could find sexy shoes close to my size.

Who knew shoe shopping in Lausanne was so difficult!

Oh and that is my bedskirt, in the background, that I made with black velvet ribbon I got for a steal at Globus a few months ago.

Mood Board for my SIL - Idea#1

My SIL asked me to help her come up with some ideas for her formal living room.  She wants youthful elegance.  These are the beautiful windows in her living room and the two pieces of furniture she just purchased from Ethan Allen.

She really loves bold colors, but is not sure what she wants for this room.  I decided to do a couple of different mood boards to give some different styles we can bring to this room.  Here is the first mood board I put together using Olioboard.

I think a dark modern rug would bring these two different styles of furniture together, act as a neutral and keep it young looking.  You want this formal living room to be comfortable enough to walk into and sit, so you will use it, but don't want it too casual.

I would then bring in some brass pieces such as tables, lucite and brass bar cart and then add brass book ends to place on the mantel.  Four square ornate mirrors above the fire place to relect the beautiful view of these windows.

To soften up the very masculin leather arm chair I would add a lambs skin throw to give it a soft texture and add a black/cream ikat pillow in silk to keep it chic.

The Ethan Allen sofa is lovely damask pattern in light green velvet.  On the sofa I would place a faux furry animal throw in brown to match the leather chair and to bring a dark color to that side of the room for balance.  Also would add some pillows in black, cream, brown velvet in modern prints to accent rug and leather arm chair.

I would then add two long panels of grey/green silk (matching color of sofa) with black velvet color block on bottom.  These curtains would frame the windows to be mounted in place, not functional.  To finish the room, hang a chandiler with a drum shade in white or black to keep it modern.   Last of course add some mirrored lamps to the room to glam it up.

Sorry for random thoughts, fragments and spelling errors have kids waiting for me!  Two to three more ideas to come soon for this room!  Think eggplant color, SIL's favorite color!!!

Out of Office - Sick

Sorry for lack of posts, was very ill with fever and a cold.  Now my cold/allergies have taken over my life.  I am like a sneezing, coughing, red eyed zombie.  It's nonstop 24/7.  Wish I could go to a USA pharmacy and get some good old OTC medicines.  Have been to the pharmacy three times in Lausanne in the last two weeks and basically I leave with nothing helpful each time.

It's times likes these I really miss the good old US of A.   I am going through boxes of kleenex daily. May need to start a fundraiser to support my need of kleenex.  Oh how I long for Mucinex to help with my runny nose.

A red circle around your nose area is so not attractive and I do not recommend wearing red lipstick, as it only enhances the red nose area.   Another life lesson learned.

Cough, cough, sneeze!

My DIY Nailhead Side Table

There are so many fun things you can do with nailheads and furniture!

all above images via here

I decided to try my own simpiler version with an inexpensive Ikea Lack table.

I took a mallet, bronze finished nailheads, some painters tape and
created this in an afternoon, well the baby took 9 months
to create....haha didn't see that one coming did you.

It was a decent first try, easy to do and not too bad looking.  I didn't feel like I really could make the Ikea table look any worse, so had no problems if I caused it damage.

I think next time I will get a second hand solid wood table and use a nailhead spacer, as it is driving me crazy that the nailheads are not perfectly spaced.

Happy Tuesday!

Not the answer I was expecting...

I have had my eyes on these lazy chairs (the picture is of one chair, but it's for a matching pair) for a while and the owner just marked them down big time.  A dark stain and chic fabric on these chairs next to a super modern side table...heaven!

So I asked my husband if I could get the chairs via
Instant Messanger and this was his response:
Ahh I could not stop crying from laughing, I love my husband.  Maybe I like furniture a little too much, you think?  Better then stray cats I guess.

Swiss Fun Friday Find - Antique Piece

Check out this beautiful canned antique piece here listed on Anibis.ch for only 800CHF!!!  It is located in Lutry and in excellent condition it states and from the late 19th Century.

This piece you could put in any room with any type of furniture.  I love mixing and matching furniture, especially something such as a "WOW" factor like this!  Again, if I only had room for it.....

It's Spring Time at Globus!!!

I just got back from shopping at Globus and they have a wonderful display of colorful inspiring items out.  I picked up two bird cages and a little white ceramic bird from there, too cute.

Check out their online advertising here called Dreamland and pictures below:

Prices are very affordable and what a great way to bring some color into your home! I am for sure going back to pick up a few more items.  Wonder if I can get away with a butterfly pillow with all these boys in my home....

No More Monday Blues,
