Happy Mother's Day!

This is how I spent my day and I enjoyed every relaxing minute of it.  Click here for a peek of what it looked liked before (was not loving the wood legs, I know my hubby thinks I am crazy).

I prepped the legs of this day bed or should I call it a huge a** ottoman? It's as big as my sofa!

Then I used paint primer.

First coat of black paint going on.

And the finished product! Love the black finish with the brass!

Stay tuned as I will be putting a new Designer Guild fabric on it tomorrow!

Help! Can't decide....

...which Designer Guild fabric to use to recover this piece of furniture.

I just finished ripping all the nail heads, staples and ugly fabric off of it. This was an Anibis.ch find from last year.

I just got hooked up with these two Designer Guild fabrics...

And this one!

Which one to choose, I love them both!

My DIY Nailhead Side Table

There are so many fun things you can do with nailheads and furniture!

all above images via here

I decided to try my own simpiler version with an inexpensive Ikea Lack table.

I took a mallet, bronze finished nailheads, some painters tape and
created this in an afternoon, well the baby took 9 months
to create....haha didn't see that one coming did you.

It was a decent first try, easy to do and not too bad looking.  I didn't feel like I really could make the Ikea table look any worse, so had no problems if I caused it damage.

I think next time I will get a second hand solid wood table and use a nailhead spacer, as it is driving me crazy that the nailheads are not perfectly spaced.

Happy Tuesday!

DIY Easy Fabric Covered Message Board

My take on an old DIY project that will only take about 15 minutes of your time.
I just used a Sharpie marker to color the trim of the board black. Then used 1 yard/meter of fabric, a standard sized cork board, upholstery tacks and 3 yards/meters of ribbon.  Best of all this project was free!  I already had all the items on hand.

The upholstery tacks were left over from another project.  They were purchased from Hornbach in Etoy last year.  You can find them at any hardware store in Switzerland.

The supplies.

Easy stuff.

My new message board for my office. My son had to add his paper men to it right away.
Great thing about this is, when I tire of this fabric, I can easily change it.  I like lots of change, so this works perfect for me.

Happy Projects,

Guess what DIY project I am working on right now using these items below:

 Then doing some of this....

I have never taken a sewing class in my life.
This is so easy anyone can do it.
The finished pictures to be posted next week!

My Flea Market Find, DG Pillow and My Hallway = Happiness!

Months ago I found this side table at an outdoor flea market here in Lausanne, Switzerland... it had been sitting in our garage ever since.

The price was set at rather high, but I talked the Madame down to 20 CHF in my terrible French. The top of the table has two huge cracks and the legs were all loose and it was about to fall apart, but something about the style of the table spoke to me. It looks so much better in the photo; in person it was awful looking. I had no idea where to put it or even what to do with it, but for 20 CHF, who cares!

Below is a picture of my entry hallway with unfinished wood frames, very blah. Not pulled together at all. I should have taken a before picture of the hallway near the front door. In that corner use to be strollers, scooters and my sons shoes. Things just kind of piled up in that corner and drove me crazy.

Well my favorite little decorating shop, Fischer Deco in Lausanne was having a major sale on their Designer Guild pillows. I was browsing, when I found this little green pillow and it just all clicked! Cheap Table + Hallway + Green Pillow - Kids Crap = Happiness!

I was so inspired by the green in the pillow, I just had to paint the table Kelly green! I do not normally do color furniture and my husband seemed nervous when he saw me painting a wood table green. He is strongly against painting wood.
My little DIY 20 CHF flea market find turned out pretty nice after using tons of wood filler, sanding, new screws and lots of green paint and presto!.

I am no decorator by any means, but I think my hallway turned out pretty decent. I painted the wood frames in the hallway a glossy black and the different shades of green make me happy!
